Ni hao Chinese sympathizers, I am staying in Beijing, China for one year to get familiar with different kinds of rice sorts, learn how to throw chopsticks, practice spitting and riding a bike without tyres .. or is this sheer nonsense? I'll clear you up!

2007 here we come (Dec. 31)

Happy New Year 2007 !! Yeah! We celebrated the year change at an underground party in an old factory. Since the only heat was produced by us, we had to party like crazy in order to drop it like it's hot.

2007 here we come (Dec. 31)

So much estrogen

Finally I found out how to link videos to my blog. Here is the first video that I am presenting. Looking back to the good old days in September makes me dream....!

Liebaus united - Beijing Opera (Dec.28)

At 5:15 pm we decided to see the Beijing Opera and at 7.15 pm we already sat in the theatre with tea and other small snacks next to the Dutch general consul and his daughter watching the great Beijing Opera.

Liebaus united - Temple of Heaven (Dec.28)

The Temple of Heaven is one of the biggest sightseeing spots in Beijing. As you can see here, the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvest is so impressive as you enter through the gate, over and over again.

Liebaus United - Hot Pot (Dec. 27)

After Beijing Duck on Monday I took my family for another Chinese round - Hot Pot! It is basically just like a fondue, unless you can throw everything into the soup. We splitted our pan half mild and halp spicy soup. Beer is included on Wednesday nights and the Chinese students had a good time, so did we. Look at this mess when we left this place!

Liebaus united - Great Wall in Simatai (Dec.27)

It is fantastic how the wall wriggles over the steepest and narrowest spots.

Continuing your travel from this point on costs you 200 Yuan, we decided to return downhill.

Liebaus united - Great Wall in Simatai (Dec.27)

Liebaus united on the Great Wall in Simatai My Chinese friend Wang Chao joined us, good man!

This is the other side of the Great Wall in Simatai where you can hike for three hours until you reach the next village called Jinshanling.

Liebaus united - Great Wall in Simatai (Dec.27)

The lake in Simatai has a hot spring. Therefore, as you can see, the upper lake is not frozen, but the lower one sure is! I showed my family one of the most spectacular sites of the Great Wall. It was not so crowded as in Badaling (compare with the pictures from October)
The inclination was considerably steep to climb up and we made thirteen watchtowers in two hours.
Chilling in the sun;)

Liebaus united - Night market in Wangfujing (Dec.26)

Delicious scorpions, grasshoppers, worms and bugs were waiting for us to be eaten. This market opens every night at 7 pm.
