Ni hao Chinese sympathizers, I am staying in Beijing, China for one year to get familiar with different kinds of rice sorts, learn how to throw chopsticks, practice spitting and riding a bike without tyres .. or is this sheer nonsense? I'll clear you up!

Hainan (Feb. 21-24)

The whole family (party of 4). A lot of Chinese offer rides and want to take up to three people on their motorcycles for two to three yuan. I prefered this model....
Thomas left us in Lijiang because he felt the urgency to equip himself with a nice sunburn. He radiated so much heat that my clothes were set on fire when taking this picture, man!
Our first stop was Xinglong. It is supposed to be one of the most beautiful beaches on Hainan Island.
We ate local fresh "Schmankerl" as you can see.
Markus wanted that we all buy these outfits, I arranged a picture for him and could bury further discussions.
Oh, watch out! Pretty well secured.
This is the local fruit that is supposed to make you all funky and crazy in the head. Yet, only if you follow instructions. Biting the fruit first and then the leaf, the leaf first and then the fruit? t
The fruit and the leaf together....was hard to fly so high in the sky;)

Since it is still New Years Week, trains, flights and buses were extremely packed. Markus and I were glad to catch aisle seats, yet connections and foreigner bonus helped us to jump on and off to Sanya.
Thomas enjoyed his time in Xinglong waiting for some wind to surf. This is one of his pictures to depict impressions of his beach vacations.

Sanya pubilc beach. This is where the rich Chinese make vacations. Since China has almost no beaches, 1,5 million Chinese come to Hainan Island during New Year's Week ...as you can see.
Sanya has already hosted the Miss World contest in 2003, 2004 and 2005 (uiuiui) and the World's Strongest Man contest in 2006.
The nicest beach in Sanya called Yalong Wan (Yalong Bay).
Inside the Sheraton Resort.

Outside the Sheraton Resort.

On the left side is a local fruit, on the right one is the very famous dragon fruit which you can smell for kilometers.

He already bit too many fruits during the afternoon. Here he is showing us his Arabic writing skills.

Misunderstanding of the function of a zebra crossing.
Tobi, Markus and I found the place of the 2-yuan-bill which is basically a single rock sticking out of the water. We entered this park illegally after opening hours.

Back in Haikou, we spent some time in this park before taking the night bus to Shenzen.

Delicious jiao zi, mmhh.

Ferry to the mainland.
